Oscar Nominees: Best Original Screenplay

The nominees: Knives Out, Marriage Story, 1917, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Parasite

I can’t help but be disappointed here given the potential for exciting choices like “Booksmart” or “The Farewell,” which both merited mentions from other groups, to be included. I did like 1917 quite a bit, but its script is far from its strongest element. I wouldn’t argue against guaranteed winner Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, even if I’m far from its strongest supporter. The other three are great choices: Marriage Story, the fantastic Parasite, and the only film in this race not nominated for Best Picture: Knives Out, representing its only bid.

My current bet to win: I don’t see how this goes to anything but Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
