Oscar Winner Predictions: Best Adapted Screenplay
The competition: American Sniper (Jason Hall), The Imitation Game (Graham Moore), Inherent Vice (Paul Thomas Anderson), The Theory of Everything (Anthony McCarten), Whiplash (Damien Chazelle)
Previous winners: 12 Years a Slave, Argo, The Descendants, The Social Network, Precious, Slumdog Millionaire, No Country for Old Men
My winner: Announcing shortly after the Oscars!
The facts: Paul Thomas Anderson is the only returning nominee, with a previous nod here for "There Will Be Blood" and for his original screenplays "Boogie Nights" and "Magnolia." All but "Inherent Vice" are nominated for Best Picture, and only "The Imitation Game" is nominated for Best Director. The last film not nominated for Best Picture to win this award was "Gods and Monsters" in 1998.
Who should win: “The Theory of Everything” or “The Imitation Game”
Who will win: It’s hard to know for sure, but I think that The Imitation Game is ahead in the race.
