Golden Globe Winner Predictions: Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical
The competition: Amy Adams’ 70s con woman (American Hustle), Julie Delpy’s love interest (Before Midnight), Greta Gerwig’s free spirit dancer (Frances Ha), Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ sarcastic masseuse (Enough Said), and Meryl Streep’s pill-popping matriarch (August: Osage County).
For your information: Streep this year earns her twenty-sixth nomination, and she has won seven times. This is the first film nomination for Louis-Dreyfus, who is also nominated for her TV work on “Veep” and won previously for “Seinfeld.” Adams has four previous nominations, all in the past six years. This is the first nomination for Delpy and Gerwig. Only “American Hustle” is nominated for Best Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical.
Who should win? Louis-Dreyfus (though I haven’t seen Delpy)
Who will win? It could be Adams, but likelier the formidable Streep.
