For your information: This cockamamie category doesn’t make much sense at all. “Alice in Wonderland” is up for Best Actor (Johnny Depp) and Best Original Score. “Burlesque” has two original songs nominated. “The Tourist” is up for Best Actor (Depp again) and Actress (Angelina Jolie). “Red” is only nominated here. “The Kids Are All Right” is up for two Best Actresses (Annette Bening & Julianne Moore) and Best Screenplay. In this category, being a strong Oscar contender doesn’t guarantee anything: “Sweeney Todd” beat “Juno,” “Dreamgirls” beat “Little Miss Sunshine,” and “Evita” beat “Fargo.” What does that say about musicals? Yikes; I’ll be so mad if “Burlesque” wins.
