Golden Globe Winner Predictions: Best Screenplay – Motion Picture
The competition: 127 Hours (Danny Boyle & Simon Beaufoy), Inception (Christopher Nolan), The Kids Are All Right (Stuart Blomberg & Lisa Cholodenko), The King’s Speech (David Seidler), The Social Network (Aaron Sorkin)
For your information: This is Sorkin’s fourth nomination in this category, following “Charlie Wilson’s War,” “The American President,” and “A Few Good Men.” Beaufoy and Boyle each won trophies, for writing and directing, respectively, for “Slumdog Millionaire” in 2008. Nolan was previously nominated in 2001 for penning the script to “Memento” and is also recognized this year as a directing nominee. This is the first nomination for Blomberg, Cholodenko, and Seidler. “127 Hours” is the only film not nominated for Best Picture. Both “127 Hours” and “The Kids Are All Right” are not nominated for Best Director. Winning in this category without those corresponding nominations is extremely rare.
Who should win: “The Social Network”
Who will win: It would be hard to beat The Social Network.
