Golden Globe Winner Predictions: Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama
The competition: Jeff Bridges’ aging musician (Crazy Heart), George Clooney’s traveling transition man (Up in the Air), Colin Firth’s 60s professor (A Single Man), Morgan Freeman’s Nelson Mandela (Invictus), and Tobey Maguire’s traumatized solider (Brothers).
For your information: This is the fifth nomination for Freeman and the fourth for Bridges. Clooney has been nominated four times for his film acting, and won twice. Freeman also won once. This is the first nomination for both Firth and Maguire.
Who should win: Firth
Who will win: It’s a tough call, but based on last year’s win for comeback kid Mickey Rourke, I think it’s going to go to Bridges. It could easily go to anyone but Maguire, however.
