My revised and completed predictions aren’t much different from my musings posted during Thanksgiving week. I’ve made changes in the asterisked categories only, putting more faith in “An Education,” “Up in the Air,” and “The Hurt Locker,” replacing “The Lovely Bones,” which I don’t think will make the cut anymore. I also don’t believe that Christian McKay will be able to manage a nomination either. Dark horses are “Inglorious Basterds” and “The Messenger,” which could both place in a number of categories. I haven't seen it yet, but "Avatar" is coming out of the gate in an incredibly strong way, so it may show up here and knock out another film. I expect to see some other surprises, though I’m hopeful that they’ll be good ones. Nominees will be announced at 8:30am Eastern Time tomorrow morning, and check back all day after the announcement for analysis of each category.
