SAG Predictions: Best Actor in a Supporting Role
Last year’s nominees: Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips), Daniel Bruhl (Rush), Michael Fassbender (12 Years a Slave), James Gandolfini (Enough Said), and Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club).
The rundown: There seem to be two clear frontrunners in this race: J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) and Edward Norton (Birdman). Ethan Hawke (Boyhood) and Mark Ruffalo (Foxcatcher) are likely to join them. For the fifth slot, it’s anyone’s game. Tom Wilkinson (Selma) could score a nomination, but my bet is a revered actor, Robert Duvall (The Judge) in a career-retrospective performance.
Current predictions: Duvall, Hawke, Norton, Ruffalo, Simmons
