SAG Winner Predictions: Best Actor in a Leading Role
The competition: Bruce Dern’s confused patriarch (Nebraska), Chiwetel Ejiofor’s enslaved free man (12 Years a Slave), Tom Hanks’ courageous captain (Captain Phillips), Matthew McConaughey’s AIDS-stricken drug dealer, and Forest Whitaker’s loyal servant (The Butler).
For your information: This is Hanks’ fourth nomination, and he won on his first try, for “Forrest Gump.” Forest Whitaker was nominated once before and won, for “The Last King of Scotland.” This is the first individual nomination for the other three performers. Ejiofor, McConaughey, and Butler are all nominated as part of their films’ casts.
Who should win: Hanks, Ejiofor, or Dern
Who will win: Maybe McConaughey?
