Golden Globe Winner Predictions: Best Original Score
The competition: All is Lost (Alex Ebert), The Book Thief (John Williams), Gravity (Steven Price), Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (Alex Heffes), and 12 Years a Slave (Hans Zimmer).
For your information: Williams is the most-nominated Globe composer ever, earning his twenty-third nomination this year. He has won four times. This is the tenth nomination for Zimmer, who has won twice. Ebert, Heffes, and Price are all first-time nominees.
Who should win? Quite honestly, they’re all terrific scores, so it’s hard to choose. I haven’t actually seen two of them, but I’ve listened to samples online. Overall, I think I’d choose “Gravity,” but I’d be fine with any of these.
Who will win? It’s a guess, but Gravity?
