SAG Nominees: Best Actress in a Leading Role
My predictions: 5/5
Who’s missing? Amy Adams (American Hustle), Adele Exarchopoulos (Blue is the Warmest Color)
This category was the easiest to predict, especially considering all five of its members are Oscar winners, and four of them are SAG winners too (Emma Thompson is the only exception, because these awards didn’t exist when she won her Oscar in 1992). I’d hope for a bit more creativity at the Oscars, but we’ll see. Meryl Streep (August: Osage County) is the only one whose film is represented in other categories this year, and she’s joined by Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine), Sandra Bullock (Gravity), Judi Dench (Philomena), and Emma Thompson (Saving Mr. Banks). More commentary to come with Oscar predictions since these are the expected five.
Who could win? For these awards, I’d go with Blanchett.
