Golden Globe Nominees: Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical
My predictions: 4/5, missing Gerwig
Who’s missing? Scarlett Johansson (Don Jon)
Unlike the corresponding male race, only one of these nominees has her film up for Best Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical, and that’s Amy Adams (American Hustle). Three of the other nominees easily could have, but they find themselves all alone save for Meryl Streep (August: Osage County), whose costar Julia Roberts is also recognized. Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Enough Said) is a double nominee thanks to her TV work on “Veep,” and Julie Delpy (Before Midnight) is flying solo, but likely to earn a screenplay nomination at the Oscars. Rounding out the list is a fun fifth choice, Greta Gerwig (Frances Ha), who really should be winning awards, even if I wasn’t in love with her film.
Who will win? Hard to say, maybe Adams since they love the film so much.
