Golden Globe Nominees: Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama

My predictions: 3/5, picking Knightley and Wallis over Watts and Weisz
Who’s missing? Keira Knightley (Anna Karenina), Emmanuelle Riva (Amour), Quvenzhane Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild)

After yesterday’s nomination and today’s, Naomi Watts (The Impossible) is establishing herself to be a serious contender, at the expense of Keira Knightley and two lesser-known actresses who might still make a play for Oscar, Emmanuelle Riva and newcomer Quvenzhane Wallis. Joining Watts are the other three dramatic SAG nominees, Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty), whose film performed exceptionally today, Marion Cotillard (Rust and Bone), whose film is nominated for Best Foreign Film, and Helen Mirren (Hitchcock), the lone representative of her movie. The fifth nominee is the New York Film Critics Circle’s choice for Best Actress, Rachel Weisz (The Deep Blue Sea), who might just be a dark horse for Oscar. I’m a bit short on this category, with three films left to see, so I’ll comment more on who should win once I’ve seen the others.

Who could win? I think that Chastain is the frontrunner.
