Golden Globe Winner Predictions: Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama
The competition: George Clooney’s Hawaiian businessman (The Descendants), Leonardo DiCaprio’s J. Edgar Hoover (J. Edgar), Michael Fassbender’s sex addict (Shame), Ryan Gosling’s campaign advisor (The Ides of March), and Brad Pitt’s baseball manager (Moneyball).
For your information: This is DiCaprio’s eighth Globe nomination. He won in this category in 2004 for “The Aviator.” This is Clooney’s fifth acting nomination, and he has won twice, but never in this category. He is also nominated this year for writing and directing “The Ides of March.” This is Pitt’s fifth nomination, and he won in 1995 for his supporting performance in “Twelve Monkeys.” Gosling is also nominated this year in the comedy category for “Crazy Stupid Love” and was a nominee in this category last year. This is Fassbender’s first nomination.
Who should win: Fassbender or Pitt
Who will win: I think it will be DiCaprio given how much they tend to like him, though it could also be Clooney or Fassbender, though the latter would be a huge surprise.
