Golden Globe Winner Predictions: Best Original Score
The competition: “Alice in Wonderland” (Danny Elfman), “Inception” (Hans Zimmer), “The King’s Speech” (Alexandre Desplat), “127 Hours” (A.R. Rahman), “The Social Network” (Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross)
For your information: This is Zimmer’s tenth nod. He won previously for “Gladiator” and “The Lion King.” This is Desplat’s fifth nod. He won in 2006 for “The Painted Veil.” This is Elfman’s third nod after “Big Fish” and “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Rahman won in 2008 for “Slumdog Millionaire.” This is the first rodeo for the TSN boys.
Who should win: All strong scores (though I couldn’t remember much about either “The King’s Speech” or “The Social Network”). “Inception” takes the cake.
Who will win: Tough call. I think this is a good way to honor Inception, though it could easily be any of these.
