Golden Globe Nominees: Best Screenplay – Motion Picture
My predictions: 4/5, picking “The Ghost Writer” over “127 Hours”
Who’s missing: “The Ghost Writer,” “The Fighter,” “Black Swan,” “Winter’s Bone,” “True Grit”
My speculative hope that “The Ghost Writer” could scare up some nods didn’t pan out, and instead we have the rather interesting selection of 127 Hours, which I wasn’t sure people would reward for its writing so much as for its production achievements. The other four aren’t surprises by any stretch of the imagination. It’s great news for The Kids Are All Right, and the three Best Picture frontrunners, Inception, The King’s Speech, and The Social Network were beyond locked.
Who could win? I think this goes to Aaron Sorkin for The Social Network.
What does this mean for the Oscar race? All five of these are pretty much guaranteed to land Oscar nods in the original and adapted categories.
