The competition: Two people meet and don’t quite fall in love in “500 Days of Summer,” three guys search a missing groomsman after a night of insane drunkenness in “The Hangover,” two formerly married individuals begin an affair in “It’s Complicated,” two women cook up a storm in “Julie & Julia,” and an Italian director searches for guidance from his many muses in “Nine.”
For your information: The past four winners in this category, “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” “Sweeney Todd,” “Dreamgirls,” and “Walk the Line,” have not gone on to be nominated for the Oscar for Best Picture.
Who should win: “Julie & Julia,” “500 Days of Summer,” or “The Hangover”
Who will win: Hard to say, but probably Nine since musicals tend to do well here and none of the others seem strong enough to eclipse it.
