Golden Globe Nominees: Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture

My predictions: 4/5, missing Farmiga
Who’s missing: No one

I opted for the wrong film to have a second nominee, thinking that voters would prefer “Precious” to “Up in the Air,” though that’s clearly not the case. This list is probably going to translate exactly to the Oscar lineup, unless Samantha Morton (The Messenger) can build up enough momentum by that point. Anna Kendrick (Up in the Air) and Mo’Nique (Precious) are safest, and Penelope Cruz (Nine) is also pretty secure. It now appears that both Julianne Moore (A Single Man) and Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air) are also probable contenders, which is great since they were both terrific. There’s not much more to say about this list, other than that it was pretty expected.

Who could win? Maybe Mo’Nique or Kendrick, but I’ll go with Cruz.
What does this mean for the Oscar race? It just means that all five of these ladies have a great chance.
